Berraquillo

I am incredulous when I hear about this traditional "energy drink"
The driver tells me it is delicious and so healthful.
No way, I'm thinking.

When we see it being prepared at the fair we stop to watch.
Ingredients begin with a live 4-inch crab, some raw oysters, and a large amount of "borojó" fruit pulp. There's a certain amount of alcohol, some powdered duck embryo, a few other things and chocolate drink mix. It seems to whip up like a milkshake. People say it tastes like the fruit in the drink.
Maybe it's no worse than the large jolts of caffeine and trace minerals in the modern energy drinks....I think.
