We Love Cali

It's been ages since we've been to Cali (since 2004 for me) and we were happy when the base commander at the Colombian Air Force's Cadet School in Cali invited us to come Saturday and Sunday. Kris did some work on their training program in the mornings and in the afternoons we were accompanied all over the city to the lookouts and restaurants and scenic areas. The general paid for everything, transportation to and from, lodging and food. He walked all over the base with us (with Michael bouncing around) It was a wonderful visit.

I think these kinds of visits are in appreciation for the hard work Kris does. They really can't recognize him officially, but they treat him (and us) to these visits.

It was enjoyable to sit and listen to them talk. They (speaking generally of Colombian officers) tell Kris things they probably wouldn't tell another foreigner (for example things that happen in their military operations) as a peer and a friend. They know we understand conditions here and don't judge with "foreign eyes" but rather as friends who love them and Colombia.

No one is fighting over Kansas--but there is some fighting over territory near Cali--Who wouldn't? when I die, I expect my ghost will stay somewhere Cali.
