We spend the day at the Smithsonian

Actually a day for us is from 9:30 am to 3 pm when prices and crowds are reduced on the Metro. We went with the Skinner grandparents to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.
Not as many dinosaurs on exibit as one would suppose.

Michael spent most of the time studying the rocks and minerals.
Although I avoid gift shops, this was a good one because all the rocks were organized, in a one long display, and labelled. We had a lot of fun reading labels and touching everything

We tried to figure out one kind of rock, it was hexagon-shaped and pointed like a fat pencil. Was this its natural shape? Was it really a crystal? or just cut and polished?
What kind was it? Kris said " why,it's pencilium"
