Remember the story of the starfish?
Early one morning, an older man is walking down the beach and sees someone else out walking way down along the beach,
coming toward him.
He can't see the person well, because he's so far, but it looks like he's dancing?
As the man comes closer, he sees it is a young guy picking things off the beach and throwing them into the water.
The man observes for the first time that the beach is full of starfish that have been washed up after the storm last night. The young man is throwing them back into the water.
When the two meet up, the man asks the young guy why he's throwing the starfish into the water. There are so many starfish and such a long beach. Why try to return them to the ocean? Maybe you'll save a couple from the natural effects of the storm, but what difference could he hope to make in the greater scheme of things?
The young guy considered a moment, then scooped up another starfish and threw it back in the ocean.
"Made a difference to that one!" he said
I make a mistake when I say, what difference does it make?
No one cares that I _______(fill in your tremendous effort here).
The truth is that it all accumulates.
Every thing you do, every thing you say, everything you think
It all matters.
Every effort you make to improve, every person you help, it all accumulates in your soul.
Conversely, every person you ignore, or shout at, or child you offend, also matter.
Nothing you do for a child is ever wasted
