Culture Within our Reach

Another thing I really like about Bogota is that there is so much fine culture available at a price we can afford.

A noticeable difference is that all the performers are so young. (Look at the age of performers in Gilbert and Sullivan operas on youtube for example) It seems to me the presentations are always high energy and their talent is certainly obvious.

What also makes it nice is that the audience is cultured--they know when to clap (when the conductor comes in, and between pieces, not between movements) and they seem to know and enjoy the works. Yes, you can argue it's the rich being exclusive, but it certainly makes it nice for us.

The rights to perform "Oliver" in Spanish were granted to a company here because of the high quality of their productions. The production was so done so well--the singing and dancing were so wonderful--I've never seen anything better done.
We have been able to enjoy "Little Shop of Horrors" "La Boheme)" "the Brandenburg Concertos" "Goldberg Variations" with guests from Asia and the US and "Carmina Burana" (that's the whole works of the 'O Fortuna' song ) I've also discovered Zarzuela--opera written in Spanish--a little more light hearted
