We make a pretty big deal of birthdays, I think.
We celebrate with confetti,
decorated dining rooms,
cakes,
all the candles (remember the cake that caught fire?)
For Kris' birthday (Jan 11) and David's (Dec 27)
we combined them to new years day.I saved up and got gift certificates and freebies and we ate out at "Noodles and Company."
We came at a quiet hour and took up the whole restaurant with noise and little kids and everything.
Kris says thats what he likes:
he doesn't need presents.
If he needs anything, he can just buy it...
(like say, calves foot jelly? what do we need?)
What we WANT are our people.
We want grandkids sleeping in our bed
our young adult children laughing and cooking...
that's what we want.
